Plumbing services are important for any household. It is extremely important to keep the drains and sink clean, ensure that the tankless water heaters are running fine and there are no leaks in the water supply pipes. Some people think that hiring a plumber is waste of money. Although you can do some plumbing jobs yourself, many plumbing jobs, such as faucet installation require professional help. To save a bit of money in the meantime, you can clean the drains of your toilets and sinks by yourself.

Cleaning a Toilet Drain
Toilet drain cleaning will prevent clogs and bad odor when done regularly. Drain cleaning also ensures that you do not need to spend money on the services of a plumber.

To clean your toilet drain, you will first have to turn the shut-off valve of the toilet in the clockwise direction till it stops. Then flush your toilet. You can use a plunger to remove remaining liquid from your toilet bowl. Next, take a cup ...
... of baking soda and pour it down the toilet drain. Then you will have to heat two cups of white vinegar. You need not boil the vinegar. Once the vinegar is heated, pour it down the toilet drain. A chemical reaction will occur and some of the residue might bubble out of the drain. That should not pose a problem and you have to keep the solution bubbling in the drain for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Fill a pitcher or a bowl with half gallon of hot water. Make sure that the water is not boiling. You will have to pour the hot water down the drain slowly. This will flush out the toilet drain. Inspect your drain. If you are not happy with the results, pour some more baking soda and hot water down the drain. Turn the shut-off valve to turn on the water.

Cleaning the sink drain
To keep your sink drain clean, run very hot water through the drain once in a few days. If the drain is partially clogged, treat it immediately. You can put one tablespoon of baking soda in your sink drain and then pour ΒΌ cup of lemon juice or vinegar and allow it to stand for half an hour. Next, run hot water down the drain to eliminate odor and small buildups.
