You are a domain administrator for Contoso Pharmaceuticals. Another mcse 2003 administrator has assigned the Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor application to all of the domain controllers in your organization. This administrator says that it has been two days and the policy has yet to appear on all the domain controllers. He asks you to look into the problem. You first check the deployment method and notice that the application is assigned to Domain Controllers OU.
To set up this scenario, complete the following steps:
1.Log on to Serverl using the domain administrator name and password.
2.Create a folder on the desktop named MBSA. Then, share that folder as MBSA.
3.Search for and download the Msbasetup.msi from the Microsoft Web site at. Place that .msi file in the shared MBSA folder on the
desktop.
4.Open the Active Directory Users And Computers console. Right-click the Domain Controllers OU and click Properties.
In the Domain Controllers Properties dialog box, click the Group Policy tab, and then click New. Type MBSA as the name of the new policy, ...
... and then press Enter.
6.Ensure that MBSA is selected, and then click Edit. In the Group mcse training Policy Object Editor, expand Computer Configuration and Software Settings, and then click on Software Installation. Right-click Software Installation, point to New, and then click Package. In the Open dialog box, in the File Name box, type \\serverl\mbsa\mbsasetup.msi and then press Enter.
7.In the Deploy Software dialog box, confirm that the software is to be Assigned and click OK. Press F5 and the new package appears in the details pane. Close the Group Policy Object Editor.
8.Ensure that MBSA is selected in the Domain Controllers Properties dialog box.Click Properties. Then, select the Disable Computer Configuration Settings check box. In the Confirm Disable message box, click Yes. Click OK. Note that there is a warning icon for the MBSA policy in the Domain Controllers Properties dialog box.
9.Click Close in the Domain Controllers Properties dialog box.
To remove software deployed with Group Policy, you must choose whether to uninstall the software from all users and computers or to merely prevent new installations of the software.
