India In 2011 World Cup

It has been ages since India has shown its true grit in the World Cup. They came close in the 2003 African Safari, but were trampled by the Aussie rampage. Thursday’s Quarter final has brought Team India under the spotlight. It’s not because of Yuvi’s effort with bat and ball, neither the greatness of Sachin and nor because of the Ashwin and Zaheer’s break through.
It was like well oiled German precision engine where all parts are working in tandem to give the maximum output. It would be sited in management sessions, the team work India showed, the grit with which they played and maturity with which they handled the pressure. There have been instances where they have choked, like the example in the previous paragraph. But now the aggression of the Indian team shows passion for the game and hunger for excellence.
Since 1983, we Indians haven’t seen an exulted Indian side which in turn has also given us immense joy. For the past two and a half decade, in each World Cup , we have been consoling ourselves with the effort ...
... our boys had put in the field. But with this scintillating win against the defending champions, it’s given us the confidence of having the title to ourselves.
The high point of the match was when Raina hit a six of the first ball of the power play. It brought us close to the eyeing the victory and the delicious match against arch rivals in semis.
The low point in the match was definitely the dismissal Sachin. Everyone always has high hopes from him and that was not the disappointment. It may well have been the last World Cup outing for the champion batsmen had India lost. Hats off to him, even in this crucial stage of the match and career, the guy just walked off post his dismissal.
It is the last World Cup appearance that Punter made yesterday marking an end of a great run of the Aussies which lasted more than a decade. Farewell to one of the great leader, competitor and batsmen.
This tournament is televised in over 200 countries and has over 2.2 billion viewers. Cricket is possibly the most interesting sport, eagerly awaited in India where every player tries to prove his abilities, sports and spirit in the match. Every person keenly looks forward for the event and as the countdown starts in earnest, so the enthusiasm grows.
Hope the Men in Blue continue the same form in the Mother of all Matches and maintain the record of being unbeaten against Pakistan in the World Cups.
