The Super Bowl is known as one of the biggest events in the world. The Super Bowl is a game that features the top two teams in the National Football League. These teams square off as they try to prove that they are the best team in the NFL. There is one team that plays from the American Football Conference and another team from the National Football Conference. These teams qualify to play in the Super Bowl by winning their games in the playoffs that lead up to the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl in 1979 featured the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This Super Bowl was known as Super Bowl XIII. These two teams had been to the Super Bowl in previous years and both teams had a lot of playoff experience. The Dallas Cowboys were actually Super Bowl Champions from the year before as they defeated the Denver Broncos 27-10 in Super Bowl XII.

While the Cowboys demonstrated a dominant defense in the previous Super Bowl, this Super Bowl would feature two potent offenses. The game took place in Miami, Florida in the Orange Bowl in the 21st of January. There were 79,484 people in attendance at the Super Bowl.

The ...
... game started off with a bang as each team had big plays from their quarterbacks in the first quarter of play. Terry Bradshaw started things off for the Steelers. Bradshaw tossed a ball to Stallworth for a 28 yard touchdown to open up the scoring for the game.

The Cowboys responded later in the quarter as Roger Staubach led the way for the Dallas Cowboys. Staubach threw a big touchdown pass to Hill for 39 yards to get the crowd excited as the 1st quarter ended. The score was all tied up after 1 quarter.

The second quarter featured more big plays for both teams. The Dallas Cowboys opened things up as they managed to recover a fumble from the Steelers. Hegman picked up the loose ball for the Cowboys and took it 37 yards to the house for a score. After converting the extra point the Cowboys were in the lead by a score of 14-7.

While the Steelers were down, they were not ready to give up by any means. Bradshaw continued to move the ball on offense and he connected for a 75 yard touchdown pass to Stallworth and a 7 yard pass to Bleier. Bradshaw had the Steelers’ offense firing on all cylinders by the end of the half and they had regained the lead by the end of the half. The score was 21-14 at halftime.

The 3rd quarter was much quieter than the previous two as the only score game from a 27 yard field goal for the Dallas Cowboys. The score was 21-17 at the end of the quarter.

The 4th quarter featured more offense from Pittsburgh. Franco Harris ran the ball into the end zone with a 22 yard touchdown to open up the quarter. The Steelers continued to pour on the points as Bradshaw threw another touchdown to Lynn Swann for 18 yards. The Cowboys looked like they were out of the game, but they made a last push before the game was over.

The Cowboys managed to score two more touchdowns in the closing minutes of the quarter, but they fell short of a comeback.

Terry Bradshaw was named the MVP of the game with 4 touchdowns as the Steelers defeated the Cowboys 35-31 to become Super Bowl Champs.
