There are two kinds of fat in our body, namely visceral and subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous is the fat which is found under the skin. Gut fat is the visceral kind which surrounds the organs in the body. It is important to lose gut fat because excess gut fat can lead to health risks such as diabetes, heart problems and bad cholesterol. Men tend to have more of gut fat than women as they tend to put on weight around their mid section.

Genetic factors are responsible for our body structure and shape. Our genes decide from where our body will lose the fat and how. How to lose gut fat then? Gut fat can be lost by exercises and by following a proper diet. People who are not active and have a sedentary lifestyle tend to have excess gut fat. Food intake and lack of physical activities are also the causes of a protruding belly.

Workouts can prevent the accumulation of visceral fat in the abdomen. Getting rid of this excess fat makes one healthier and less prone to health risks. It is necessary to watch your calories and to reduce its consumption. This can be done by eliminating high calorie food and food which are low in nutrition. Stay away from junk food, oily food and high sugar content. Eat vegetables, fruits and fiber which provide the body with the required vitamins and minerals. Drink plenty of water which is required by our body for proper functioning.

Many people opt for miracle weight loss pills, crash dieting and even surgeries to get rid of gut fat. But the concept of losing weight is as easy as burning more than you consume. If you follow simple steps seriously you may not require to take those pills or to go on unhealthy crash diets. Making small changes like, cutting down on the portion size you eat and having many small meals in a day rather than two big heavy meals help in boosting the metabolism of the body. This makes the body burn more calories throughout the day which will aid in losing gut fat. Take the stairs instead of the lift and park your car a little further from the entrance to the mall. Alterations like these in your lifestyle, exercising and diet changes can burn the calories and make you a healthier person.
