Gambling has become a major part of society it seems in every continent. Whether or not the gambling is legal in each country, it seems that gambling seems to find a pace everywhere. Sports betting is a specific major attraction in many countries around the world. While many people enjoy watching sports just for the fun of it, it seems that there is a large population of people that want to make money off of sports even if they can’t participate themselves.

Many countries are finding that whether or not they legalize betting on sports that people will bet on sports anyway. Several of these countries are rethinking their policies on betting in order to take advantage of what is already going on in the country. If countries legalize betting they realize that they can take a part of the profit to boost their economy.

Many people are trying to find a way to legalize gambling in Malaysia. There is one group in specific that is trying to get things going in sports betting. To be truthful things are certainly not favorable for the group that is trying to legalize gambling in the country. The group is known as the ...
... Berjaya Group and this is not the first time that they have tried to get sports betting into the country.

The Berjaya Group is a conglomerate that has their own interests in gambling and they see an opportunity to make a killing in the gambling market in the country. Their last attempt came in 2004. While they did not get it legalized at that point, there are a few factors that could help their cause.

Recently there has been a greater acceptance of sports gambling in Singapore. With so much success in Singapore many people feel that the government in Malaysia will reexamine the possibility allowing sports betting in the country.

The country has a lot of illegal gambling going on in the realm of football games. If the country legalized sports gambling they would be able to take a cut out of the money available in that market. There are also hopes that they might be able to regain ground in the gaming market. Singapore recently opened their first casino and they have taken a large share of the market. A change in the gambling scene may allow Malaysia to take back some of the business that they lost to Singapore.

Currently there is an estimated value of RM850 million in daily legal gambling within the country. While this is a significant amount of money, there is estimated to be an equal amount of money moved in daily illegal gambling in the country. This means that the country could potentially double the amount of money that they are making from gambling.

There are some concerns that gambling in general is unethical and many people feel that it is a bad idea to have the potential to gamble on everything. Time will tell if sports betting will be made legal in the country.
