The word nutrition means providing materials in the form of food to the cells and organisms within the body to sustain a healthy life. It is also known as nourishment, and can prevent us from having health problems.

There are six types of nutrients - carbohydrates, protein, fat, dietary fibre, water, vitamins and minerals. These can further be divided into two segments macronutrients meaning nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, water and protein which are needed by the body in large quantity. The other one is micronutrient like vitamin and mineral in small quantity.

Macronutrients except water are needed in a large quantity because they provide structural ingredients like amino acid from which proteins are made and lipids which help in building cell membranes, molecules which help in signaling.

Carbohydrates are taken in the form of rice, pasta, bread and other grains like wheat. They contain sugar starches and fibre. Carbohydrate is not an essential nutrient but yet is consumed in large amounts in human diets. It needs to be consumed in moderation as to much can cause health problems.

Dietary fibre ...
... is very important for the body. It is an essential part of our nutrition and is found in fruits, whole grain, and vegetables. Fibre can help to reduce gastrointestinal problems like constipation and diarrhea simply by increasing the size of the stool and helping to pass it through the colon.

Proteins in nutrition are the basis of body structures in human body, like the hair, muscles, and skin. They are mainly found in meat, egg, tofu, milk and cheese. Protein helps in producing enzymes which control the chemical reaction throughout the body. It is very important for a person to consume protein during times of pregnancy, or injury, for correct development and a faster recovery.

Fats are generally consumed with carbohydrates or used for cooking proteins or dietary fibers. They play an important role in maintaining healthy skin and hair and cell function.

Water is the source of life, normally most of the water intake comes from the drinking water, beverages and the rest comes in food. It helps to keep our body from de hydrating.

Correct nutrition determines how healthy a person can be. A happy and healthy person will always be noticed. There inner beauty will always shine through.
