The A-BAT is powered by a 4-cylinder gas engine combined with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive. According to most car research, this hybrid has a translucent solar panel mounted on top of its dashboard that traps sunlight and convert it to electric energy. This energy is then supplied to its electric motor through the installed battery pack. This feature gives the vehicle its name A-BAT which stands for Advanced Breakthrough Aero Truck.
