The Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad is the first Parliament of Indian Student Council leaders. This has been organized by the MIT School of Government in an attempt to involve the youth in an attempt to increase their involvement in Politics, saving the environment, Social movement and other important issues in our lives.

The recent event organized at the MIT Campus in Pune brought together representatives from thousands of colleges across the country along with General and Joint secretaries to formulate ideas and new resolutions concerning various issues plaguing India.

The governing Council of this Society consists of dignitaries like Shri Rajesh Tope, Shri T.N. Seshan, Prof Karad and other eminent members such as ex and present vice-chancellors of different Universities, lawyers, scientists and politicians.

The main motive behind this is to bring young leaders to the forefront and encourage them to participate in matters of the country, using this platform, the younger generation can put forth their ideas and have a chance to meet the eminent leaders in different fields - like politics, spirituality, entertainment, ...
... media and social development.

In the 11 sessions of this meeting, which lasted from Jan 12 to Jan 14, 2011, the youth were addresses by personalities like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Shri N.R. Narayan Murthy, Dr Kiran Bedi, Shri Nana Patekar, Smt Aruna Roy and others who have excelled in their field. The messages passed on to the youth related to topics like corruption, spirituality, women power, saving the environment, creating more opportunities for the youth, media and entertainment and national security.

The resolutions recorded at this event were formulated after due discussion. Some of the resolutions recorded at this event were about the scholarship and stipend given to students belonging to the low economical groups at both the graduation and post graduation level, making the studies more job oriented and other issues related to the economy and growth of the Country and the environment.

The organizers of this society recognize the need for changing the political, economical and social set-up in India. While being considered an emerging superpower, India is also plagued with poverty, illiteracy and corruption. According to them, what this country needs is to change its outlook and introduce fresh ideas to change the working system.

The youth of today is eager to make a change if given the opportunity. They are bubbling with enthusiasm and new ideas and the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad is an excellent platform using which they can get the required infrastructure and support to implement these ideas.
