Three Key Considerations Before You Build Your Garden Shed
Before you start to build a garden shed, ensure you check the following three key considerations. A little preparation work can save you a lot of time, effort and trouble.
1: How much money, time and energy do you have for your garden shed project?
Is there a time that you need the garden shed to be up? Do you need it in a few months or a few weeks? Do you have a lot of time to build the shed? What is your skill level? Do you have a lot or little money to put into this project?
By answering these questions, you can appreciate what type of garden shed you are able to build. For example, if you need the shed up fast, a pre-fabricated garden shed may be the right choice for you.
2: What is the purpose for your shed?
There are many shapes and sizes for a garden shed. Knowing the function of the shed will make it a lot easier to make your mind up on the design and size of the shed.
Is it just to store things you don't have room for in the house? Would you prefer to work in the shed? Do you want a high ceiling so that you can add storage shelves and still work in it? Do you want to keep wide ...
... or long items such as a kayak or a small boat?
Planning ahead for any special size requirements will ensure that the space functions to its best potential.
It is a lot easier to decide on the size and shape of the garden shed if you know what you want to use it for.
3: Where is the intended location of the garden shed?
After deciding on the function of the shed, you need to choose where do you plan to build it?
This is very important as the location have an effect on the function. If you need to store big items like a kayak, do you have enough space to move it in and out of the shed? Would you need to carry the things stored there a long way? Is there a nearby tree that may crack the foundation? Is there any power lines nearby that could make it unsafe? Is the land level or can be made level? Do you want the shed to fit in with the style of the garden? Would the shed take up too much space from the garden?
These three considerations assess the common shed building considerations. After you have work out these factors, then you can select a garden shed design that fits your needs.
