Known as the Oscars of sports, the ESPY awards represent a night when star athletes trade in their uniforms for tuxedoes and dresses.

With the National Football League and National Basketball Association in their respective off-seasons, it is the one day during the year that no major sporting events will take place. in 2010, that day falls on the 14th of July with the ceremony beginning at 9 p.m.

Tapped as the host for the 2010 ESPY awards, Mr. Meyers follows a long list of celebrity hosts that include Samuel L. Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and original host Dennis Miller. For the first time since 2003, the award show will broadcast live. Some of the high-profile athletes expected to attend are Tom Brady, Shaquille O'Neal, Phil Mickelson, LeBron James, Peyton Manning. Additional celebrity appearances have included Eva Longoria, Halle Berry, and Jamie Foxx.
