Basil is among the herbal plants known for their medicinal purposes. Basil herbal plant is used in curing indigestion. The herbalists studied the properties of herbal plants and found out that most of them are naturally effective as treatment.

The phytochemicals and many antiviral substances make basil herb good for acne, wounds, parasitic infections, insect bites, and dental problems. Herbal remedies are not new. They are as old as time.

In the past, basil leaves were boiled and taken as tea for relief of cramps, indigestion, constipation, itching, heart problems, nausea, and ringworm. The leaves of the basil plant are also excellent for alcoholism, fever, and colds.

Bruised leaves, or pounded leaves, were known to cover and disinfect wounds, snake bites, cure warts, and arthritic pain. If you are in a place where there are mosquitoes around, you can get natural insect repellant from basil by rubbing some of its leaves on your skin.
