Merucy, Mazda And Nissan Compact And Midsized Engine Roundup
Mercury, Mazda, and Nissan produce some of the most popular compact and midsized cars and trucks in the United States. Millions of people go about their lives each day in vehicles made by one of these three manufacturers, and they get where they're going thanks to the engines that power these vehicles. The Nissan engine, the Mazda 3 engine, and the new or used Mercury engine are among the most popular engines in small to midsized vehicles on the roads today, and people considering one engine and vehicle often wonder what the differences are among the three sets. After all, it is only natural as a human being to want to get the most for your money. This guide will provide an introduction to the different engines offered in compact and midsized vehicles by Mazda, Mercury, and Nissan to help you figure out which engine will best meet your needs when you are next in the market for a new or used car or engine.
There are several different versions of the Mazda 3 engine offered in the United States, but they basically range from the smallest version that offers ...
... 144 horsepower, 132 foot pounds of torque, and a 2 liter engine, to the largest that offers 263 horsepower and 280 foot pounds of torque from a turbocharged 2.26 liter engine. In comparison, the Nissan engine that comes with the Sentra, one of Nissan's leading compact cars in the United States, comes in four basic flavors. The smallest Nissan engine of the four is a 1.5 liter, four cylinder engine, while the largest is a 1.8 liter, four cylinder engine that offers 122 horsepower and 127 foot pounds of torque. As you can see, all of the variants of the Nissan engine are smaller than the Mazda 3 engine; however, the catch is that the only version of the Sentra's Nissan engine available in the United States is the 1.8 liter. However, this is still smaller than any Mazda 3 engine. As smaller engines tend to be better with fuel consumption, if you are in the market for a fuel efficient vehicle, you may be better served by the Nissan engine in the Sentra than by the Mazda 3 engine. Mercury's smallest offering is the Milan, and a used Mercury engine based on the 2010 Milan will come with a 3.0 liter v6 engine that offers 240 horsepower and 223 foot pounds of torque. As you can see, the Milan's engine is by far the largest of the three, and is also the least fuel efficient, but the most powerful. Down the road, this should be a great used Mercury engine.
Now that you have the numbers in front of you, which engine should you choose? It depends on your needs, of course. However, something to keep in mind is that if you find yourself in the market for a replacement engine, you will be better served to purchase a used engine than a new engine because a used engine will allow you to save significant amounts of money over a new one.
About: Additionally, you may be better off purchasing a used Nissan engine if fuel efficiency is your top priority, or sticking with a vehicle that needs a used Mercury engine if you want torque.
