Wigs can never be a substitute or replacement for natural hair. Basically Human hair wigs and Synthetic hair wigs are the two types of hair wigs available in market. Irrespective of the type, both of the basic hair wig types are meant for their durability and ease in usage. In this article you will know how to use fabric softener effectively for cleaning the wigs.

Take a spray bottle. Prepare a mixture by taking 1 part of any fabric softener with 4 parts water for the perfect conditioning, detangling and styling formula. The same formula can be used for all types of wigs just by replacing the fabric conditioner with a hair conditioner. This formula is best suited for human hair wigs. It is well and good to spray over a mat so that a film does not dry on the floor. In some cases the fabric softener and hair-conditioner mixture can leave a slippery coat on hard surfaces. So be sure to wipe the slippery coat afterwards.

Apply the conditioner by placing your hand with fingertips spread into the crown of your wig. Spray into the air three to four times and gently wave your wig through the mist. Gently brush, comb, or ...
... give finger style movements to the strands of the wig. Set your wig aside to dry before wearing or storing. Spray the conditioner mixture from a distance of 6 to 8 inches and spray 1 to 2 times directly over the tangled area depending upon the tangled area. Gently use a small, wig brush or fine-tooth comb to begin detangling, starting with small strokes from the bottom edge and working your way upwards in small movements towards the crown.

Brush or comb the hair on top of your fingers. Use your forefinger and middle finger for this process. This prevents breakage and loss of the wig's hair and gives you more control over the detangling process. It is always well and good to work on areas that are about 1 to 1.5 inches wide at a time. Though it may seem like a much time consuming process, it is worth doing. This method is one of the safest and fastest techniques for maintaining and protecting the wigs from detangling. Dry up the wig without wringing and twisting the strands. You can use a tooth brush to remove the marks if there are any. Use only the sprays that are specially made for wigs and clean the wigs once for every twelve times of usage.
