Incorporating damask into a wedding is a something of a unique concept; however, if it is executed tastefully, it can be a highlight of the wedding experience. There are numerous ways in which damask can be used successfully within a wedding. Traditionally, damask wedding theme referred only to patterned textiles constructed from silk. However, in the last two decades, the term damask has come to reference the patterns used in the textiles, rather than the textile itself.
Damask prints can be used in tablecloths, napkins, chair covers, even on the wedding cake itself. Within the last several seasons, black and white damask has become a popular staple in home decorating magazines and in home decorating trade shows. Many individuals have incorporated damask into their wedding first by using it on their wedding invitations. The element of damask may be subtle, such as in the border or the trim of the invitation, or it may be more pronounced, such as in the background of the invitation. There are even brides who have used a damask print for their bridesmaids' dresses or flower girl dresses. A damask print can be used in the labels for favors or in the toasting flutes for champagne.
The cover of the guest book for the wedding can be covered in a damask print. The same print can also be used in the pattern of the plates used at the reception. Damask prints are also highly popular for use in wedding cakes. As aforementioned, damask colors do not have to be limited simply to black and white; however, if a brides does choose to use a black and white damask print, she can also use a bright color, such as royal blue, for an accent color throughout the wedding's schemes. When it is incorporated correctly, damask appears as elegant and stylish. It can elevate the design of a wedding to a more sophisticated level.
