When starting out in any field of engineering there are a number of tools required by all levels through the spectrum of career choices from engineers to fitters. There are several of tools crucial in order to complete a job to a high standard. When starting in this field of work it is worth becoming familiar with such tools and gaining a preliminary understanding as to their function and worth inside the trade. Two kinds of tool that fall into this category are the engineer's square and the sliding bevel. A basic understanding of these tools will ensure that the initial months in the field of engineering will be as smooth and painless as possible.

The engineer's square, also known as the machinist square is the metalworker's equivalent of the try square, comprised of a steel blade along with a weightier body at a right angle. The engineer's square can be used to produce accurate angles, from a set position. Whilst working in engineering, accuracy is crucial, even down to the tiny details which includes angles, an engineer's square will assist you to create both right angles and perpendicular angles to the highest ...
... level of accuracy. Without the use of such a tool the margin of error can be substantially increased which may have wider implications for the finished product or design.

A sliding bevel is another tool to help the creation of precise angles in construction projects . The sliding bevel comprises of a handle that is connected to a metal blade with a hinge so that the blade can be set at the required angle. The purpose of the tool is to accurately replicate existing angles or to create a completely new angle with the assistance of an additional tool like a protractor, a combination square or a framing square. The sliding bevel allows construction projects with complex angles to be reproduced rapidly and accurately. Additionally, the tool may be set by using a protractor to be used as a template allow rapid production of multiple identical angles. Without using such a tool, angles that are measured as being identical may have a greater margin of error than anticipated.

Both the engineer's square and the sliding bevel are indispensible in the engineering field where accuracy in both straight lines and angles is imperative. A margin of error that's greater than is acceptable on a particular project could have wider ramifications than could be initially expected. The end results may be substandard if the proper tools aren't used. If the manufactured product is a component inside a larger project the error may be greatly magnified resulting in failure or even disaster. The engineer's square and the sliding bevel are very important tools to help anyone in the field of engineering to be able to complete projects to a high standard.
