Paphos Tigers Annual Funday Proved To Be A Roaring Success!

Gates opened at Kiniras Sports Ground in Paphos on the 12th September for a day of Tiger sporting madness!

Sponsored by Cyprus Luxury Furniture Packs - the UK based furnishing specialists of property in Cyprus - and organized in order to help the Tigers raise much needed funds, the annual Paphos Tigers funday welcomed both locals and tourists alike, spreading the exhilaration of the game across the town.

The main attraction, Paphos Tigers vs Christ's College Cambridge was followed by a meet and greet with the players who not only encouraged youngsters to get involved with Rugby but inspired former players to re-kindle their passion.

Tiger representative Sue Rolfe commented, Our aim is to expand the game of rugby in Cyprus. We want to bring the game to back to those who have previously played or been involved with rugby in one way or another. Events like our funday not only benefit the club financially, but help us reach out to others who have never played and offer them an opportunity to find out what rugby is truly about - Not only on the pitch, but off it too.

Catering for all ages the Paphos Tigers ...
... funday offered something for everyone. From traditional activities such as Face Painting, Bouncy Castles, Donkey Rides, Stalls and Competitions to slightly more outrageous events such as a Diving Tank and even a Parachute Jump for the brave and daring.

The success of the event was sealed with some fantastic raffle prizes that were contributed by generous sponsors. Prizes included a 6 months health club membership, an open water diving course and even a 32" Panasonic TV that was contributed by lead sponsor Cyprus Luxury Furniture Packs.

The Paphos Tigers were the first independent rugby club in Cyprus. Originally founded by a group of South African players in 2003, the majority of the squad are either South African or British. Prior to the Tigers, the only rugby played on the island was at the British Bases, with whom the tigers have and continue to organize games with on a regular basis. Sue Rolfe stated, Even though we are an amateur club, we take rugby very seriously and hope to grow and participate in many events and tournaments.
