If you are planning on buying a diamond engagement ring, then read this article. It will help you understand what you are looking for so that you can buy with confidence and make the best choice. The result you are looking for is the best ring at the best price. An engagement ring is a symbol of love with intention, and it says forever like nothing other than time itself.
An engagement is a pledge to marry, and is when two people grow to love and understand each other more deeply as they make plans for their joint future. An engagement ring represents this pledge and is a lasting reminder for all to see. It should be unique and reflect the style and individual taste of the wearer, as she plans to wear it for the rest of her life. Fortunately nature does not make duplicates, so every diamond is slightly different and unique, just like the wearer.
Before looking into the setting, finding the right cut (shape) of a diamond is an important individual decision and may take some time to locate and choose the right one. There are several things to consider during this process, price being one important one. Go window ...
... shopping to get an idea of what is available at what price. Then you need to set a budget that you will be comfortable with, especially if you are doing it on a repayment scheme.
Once the cut of the diamond has been picked and the type of gold and style of setting has been established, it is important to know about the factors that make a good diamond. These factors are known as the 4 C's - cut, clarity, colour, and carat. These are the key components that determine the value of the diamond.
The Cut
The most complex factor that affects the price of a diamond is the cut. Even the highest quality diamonds can look dull if they are not cut correctly. Any shape other than a classic round is called a "fancy cut". Fancy cut diamonds make strong statements about the wearer and are a beautiful visual expression of personality and style.
The Clarity
Clarity refers to the number of "inclusions" that are found inside of a diamond. Inclusions are scratches, trace minerals, or other tiny characteristics or markings that can detract from the way light bounces from mirror to mirror (known as "facets") within a diamond. The clarity has measurements that range from Flawless to Inclusions Visible and several classes in between. The flawless diamond is very rare, beautiful and expensive. Less expensive grades are available and prices depend on the amount of flaws or inclusions.
The Colour
In nature, diamonds come in all colours with the most common having a slight yellow tinge. These more common colours are ranked on a scale from absolutely colourless (D) to (Z), which are naturally yellow.
The rarest, and therefore the most expensive, are either colourless or a naturally intense colour like blue, yellow pink and - the most rare of all diamonds, red.
The Carat
This relates to the weight of the diamond as against the size. It is a universal measurement and 1 carat is a weight of 0.20 grams. The weight is the most significant part of the price of the diamond.

Diamond Grading Certificate
An essential part of purchasing a diamond is the Diamond Certificate. It is this document that proves the value of your stone because it shows the exact characteristics, such as measurements, weight, quality and cut and of the stone. It provides proof of the diamond's and value and identity.
Ensure that the diamond you purchase is graded and certified by a reputed diamond grading laboratory. The most respected diamond grading labs are GIA (Gemological Institute of America), HRD Antwerp, AGS (American Gem Society)

Diamonds are the definitive jewel stone. They are a symbol of love, romance and power. For that and many more reasons, diamond engagement rings should, as far as possible, match the unique tastes and highlight special characteristics of the women who will wear them.
