Chevy engines are among the most reliable engines on the road. Thousands of people each day drive to work and back and run all sorts of errands in cars powered by such engines. A popular example of a car favored by many Americans is the Chevy Malibu, which comes with a 3.6 liter engine powerful and reliable enough to get most people where they want to go and when they need to get there. However, over time, every engine develops problems, and eventually, every engine fails. When that time comes, consumers are often left with the question of whether to purchase an entirely new car, to purchase a new engine, or to attempt to replace the non working engine with a well conditioned used engine. As most consumers are not made of money, they tend to avoid purchasing entirely new cars, particularly if the rest of the car is working and the problem can be isolated to the engine. However, the question of whether to buy an entirely new engine or to consider a used engine as a replacement option is more difficult for many buyers. This is because most people are not aware of the terrific deals in savings they can get by choosing used engines ...
... as replacements when their engines fail instead of throwing away money on brand new engines.

A number of different things can cause failure in Chevy engines, such as overheating (blown head gasket), cracked pistons, cracked heads, or leaking fuels and rust. Whatever the reason, there will probably come a time when you decide that your current engine no longer cuts the muster. The most obvious sign of a failing engine is that it may refuse to start, start inconsistently, or stop inconsistently. Once you have ruled out all other causes and determine that the engine is at fault, you should consider replacing that engine with a used engine.

The cost of a used Chevy engine may range from the mid hundreds to the low thousands, but whatever it is, it will almost always be less than the cost of a brand new engine for your vehicle. You can typically obtain used engines from auto dealers and mechanic shops, or you can look online and order them yourself. It may even be possible to obtain used engines from similar cars such as yours if they are in good enough condition. The process of switching the engines can be performed by a few trained mechanics at an auto shop in a day or two, and afterward, you will have an engine that is reliable and capable of transporting your vehicle for hundreds of thousands of miles, yet at significantly less cost than you would have spent if you had decided to purchase a new engine.

When you decide to purchase a gently used engine, depending on where you buy it from, you will want to make sure it's checked out by a professional to ensure it is in good working order and that it fits your vehicle well. However, such tasks can typically be performed by the people who will help you install the new used engine and dispose of your current engine. Keep in mind that you will likely pay extra for the labor of installing the engine into your car. However, you will likely have to pay for installation no matter whether you buy a brand new engine or a gently used one, so you might as well save your money and get a used one that performs just as well as the new one but for significantly less money drawn from your pocket.
