Before you go shopping for wigs learn the differences between human hair and synthetic, and what those differences will mean to you. The first is made from real hair, usually from Indian or Chinese donors, and is the more natural looking of the two.

A good quality synthetic one can look great, and is usually better about maintain its style, but it in certain light it will be more noticeable that it is not your natural hair. Two things you should probably ask yourself are: How often it will be worn, and for what purpose.

If you intend on wearing a wig on a regular or daily basis then you are probably better off going with the human hair type. It can be styled more frequently and colored, so it will offer more versatility in ways to wear it.

A good quality synthetic hairpiece is just fine if you plan on only using it for special occasions, or once in a while. With either type be careful about what products you are using on it. The better the hair piece, the more you can expect to pay for it. Again, it all depends on how often you plan on wearing it. Whether you prefer synthetic wigs or human hair, either can last you for quite some time as long as it is cared for properly. Getting a wig stand may help it keep its shape, and keep it from tangling.
