If you are thinking about dating a woman from the Philippines, it would be wise to understand some religious background about them. Most Filipino women are Catholic and the reason for their choice is because of the Spanish influence back in the day. It is true if you hear the rumor that the Philippines is the third largest Catholic nation in the world. Many Filipina women dress their homes with pictures and images of the Virgin Mary and also build a shrine.
Philippine women are not allowed to divorce mainly because the Catholic religion is against it. Most Filipino women accept men that are not of Catholic religion, so don't worry about converting. Many of the women in the Philippines are God-fearing people and practice their beliefs whole heartedly.
Not all Filipino women are Catholic. In fact, the percentages show around 80% Catholicism, and the other 20% are Christian or Muslim.
In today's society people can find Filipino women practicing all denominations of religion. These religions include Protestant, Methodists, Baptists, and Buddhists. Over all Filipino women tend to be very true to the religion that ...
... they choose and dedicate time to their local churches.
There is as established sect called the Philippine Independent Church that extends from the Philippine Revolution. In modern day Filipino women rather refer to it as Aglipayanism and associate this sector with Protestant values.
Some Filipino women on the Islands practice the religion of Islam. It is said that Islam entered the Philippines centuries ago and was then weeded out by Spanish missionaries. The Spanish missionaries introduced Catholicism in the 16th century. It is very rare to see Muslim Filipinas with western men.
A large part of the Filipinas who marry western men are Catholic and Christian because this seems to be the dominant Religion from where these men are coming from. Most of the men are coming from the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe.
Many Filipinas are very open to convert to their husband's faith as long as she is able to practice in free will. Many western and European men are a lot more flexible when it comes to the religion chosen by Filipina women. It seems to be very important for the Philippine women to be able to worship in a church of their choice. This way of life was instilled in Filipino women since their early childhood. It is better to go along with the program than to fight it.
It does seem in the modern world that religion and Filipina women are not the main concern when starting relationships. There are a lot of other more important questions to be answered. Some of these questions and concerns are medical problems, education and ability to take care of a family.
No matter what Religion the Filipino women are, it seems that they are still very good wives. That is the most important part when choosing a woman that you want to marry.
