The Los Angeles Kings are a professional Hockey team that plays in the NHL. The Kings play in Los Angeles, California. They have been playing in Los Angeles for more than 40 years and play their games in the Staples Center. The Staples Center is best known as the place where the Los Angeles Lakers play. It is owned by the Lakers and is rented to the Kings for play during the season.

The Kings are currently owned by Philip Anschutz and Edward Roski Jr. The general manager of the team is Dean Lombardi. They are coached by Terry Murray. The team also has some minor league affiliates in the Manchester Monarchs and the Ontario Reign.
Truth be told, the Kings have simply not found much success over their history. The biggest goal in professional hockey is to win the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup is the prize given to the winner of the playoffs following the regular season.

To this point the Kings have never been able to win a championship. Despite not winning a championship in all of their years of existence they will certainly continue putting out a team each year to compete as best as they can.

The team ...
... went through many eras that can be defined by the changing of their logo. The logo of the team was Blue and Gold for many years. The team had some ups and downs during their time in the Blue and Gold, yet they were never really able to make a push in the same way that they were later on.

The team really made a big push in the next era of the team: The Silver and Black era. The team made a huge move that would propel their franchise to heights that were before unattainable. The team went out and decided to try to get more talent on the ice. They succeeded in a big way. The team managed to bring in a player that was not only the best player in the league at the time, but he would go on to become the best player that ever played professional hockey. That player would of course be Wayne Gretzky.

The Kings put together a blockbuster deal with the Edmonton Oilers and shocked the world. Gretzky was immediately successful with the team. He scored 54 goals and dished out 114 assists on the season. Those huge numbers along with a solid 2nd place finish in the Smythe Division landed Gretzky the Hart Memorial Trophy. That trophy is given to the league's most valuable player.

The Kings managed to start to find some success in the early 90's like they had never before seen. The team managed to win their first division championship in the 1990-1991 season. They also managed to win their first and only conference championship in the history of the franchise in 1992-1993. The team has never won a division championship or a conference championship ever since the early 90's and they are back on the prowl to bring success back to Los Angeles.
