All of us have wanted some kind of a material at some point of time or the other, that is like super strong and super durable that goes easy on the pocket. Of the various types of cloths available in the market, the cheap and rough linen cloth seems to be a great option when making homespun clothes and other sundry items. Being easily available, more and more people are exploring the wonders this fabric can create. It can be used by the tailor to create different types of armour. It can also be made into sacks and carry bags which are better than using carry bags made of plastic as it causes less harm to the environment.

But in the case of oil painting, it acts as an extremely useful but quite expensive primary support due to its being lighter and more elegant than canvas as it becomes easier to stretch the material onto the stretcher bars and the best part of it all is that the colour holds better to linen. Aesthetically speaking, it is more appealing too. It is a highly absorbent material and behaves well during bleaching and other preparatory treatments for dyeing. Linen cloth ...
... is often dyed with vat dyes and one of the commonly used methods is known as the pad-jig method.

Tablecloths, napkins, vinyl tablecloths, chair covers, etc., made of linen cloth, come under the section of restaurant table linens. They have a huge demand in the market because of its double moisture absorption and antibacterial quality and as they respond well to regular wear and tear. It is fairly interesting to note that linen cloth was used even at the time of the ancient Egyptians for not only clothing its workers but in the process of mummification as well!

This amazingly versatile piece of cloth can be woven in to apparels, towels, handkerchiefs, upholstery, and several other articles. It is often blended with cotton fabrics, silk fabrics, wool fabrics, fleece fabrics, drapery fabrics, etc. to suit different purposes. In Christianity, ancient Judaism and Buddhism, the linen cloth is used to cover their sacred altar during celebrations or when not in use.
