Difficult to put in a single category, the Chrysler Pacifica was one of the first large crossover SUVs on the market. It brought to mind a minivan mixed with a wagon but definitely had some sports utility thrown in there somewhere. Chrysler dubbed the Pacifica a sports tourer and marketed it as an upscale luxury vehicle wrapped in creature comforts with seating for six. Early models featured a 3.8 liter V6 Chrysler engine with only 210 horsepower but this engine would quickly come to be seen as inadequate for the Pacifica, especially if fully loaded, and it was soon replaced.

The Chrysler engine that took its place was a 3.5 liter V6 with up to 250 horses hooked to a four speed automatic transmission. Used on many Chrysler models in the past, this engine has earned a reputation for giving a reliable and capable performance. Although the acceleration in the Pacifica can be slower than in some other models, this Chrysler engine and transmission go well together and offer quick, intelligent automatic shifting and plenty of power.

In 2007, a new ...
... Chrysler engine was introduced to the Pacifica, replacing the 3.5 liter. This was a 4.0 liter SOHC V6 Chrysler engine that came with a massive 255 horsepower and 265 pounds per foot of torque. The torque on this model was an improvement on the previous model of up to 35 more pounds per foot. This was especially noticeable in the faster acceleration rate from zero when first starting to drive the Pacifica.

There was also a lot less noise, harshness, and vibration in this 4.0 liter V6 due to the improved engine design. It came with an updated cooling system, new front bearings, larger halshafts, and a brand new dual exhaust system. The engine had 24 valves and cast aluminum cylinder heads.

Although these engines have been generally known to be dependable and competent, as they begin to get older some problems may develop. Some Aspen owners have reported oil consumption problems and in rare cases this may lead to eventual engine failure.
No matter how good the engine is, just like any complicated piece of machinery it will eventually develop problems and begin to spend a lot of time in the shop. When this happens, sometimes it's best to invest not in a new car but in a new engine for your car. A used Chrysler engine can be the perfect solution to getting your SUV back on the road again at minimal expense of time and money.

Once your engine has lived out its life it can be replaced at a relatively low cost by another Chrysler engine pulled out of a wrecked or otherwise incapacitated vehicle. These used engines are checked extensively for flaws, repaired as needed, and then resold to Chrysler owners who have been having serious engine problems but don't want to have to replace their entire automobile.

About: The Chrysler Pacifica is a comfortable and elegant family vehicle that has a sporty appearance and handles almost like a car. It's worth investing in a used Chrysler engine to get your Pacifica back up and running and it will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.
