How To Judge The Quality Of A Running Track
Running tracks are everywhere. Schools, gyms, and community centers all have them. They are one of the most popular sports surfaces in the world. But how do you know if a track is well made? Here are four simple ways to check.
1.Look at the Color
A good track should have a smooth, even color. If the surface looks patchy or has visible color spots, that is a warning sign. Uneven color means the pigment was not mixed well during production. It could also mean that low-quality materials were used.
2.Feel the Surface
Touch the track with your hands. Feel for bumps, dips, or rough areas. Walk on the track and check for uneven spots. An uneven surface can cause ankle injuries. Also check the edges and seams. They should be clean and tight. Rough seams can crack and peel over time.
3.Test Hardness and Elasticity
A good track needs the right balance of hardness and softness. Too hard means more joint stress. Too soft means less speed. Jump on the track and feel the response. A quality track will cushion your landing and give you a slight bounce.
4.Check Wear Resistance
Rub the surface ...
... with your shoe. If it shows no damage, that is a good sign. If it sheds or marks easily, it may not last long.
