Argentina's data center colocation sector is quietly becoming one of Latin America's most compelling infrastructure stories. Valued at USD 76 million in 2024, the market is forecast to more than double, reaching USD 156 million by 2030, at a healthy compound annual growth rate of 12.73%.

With 22 operational colocation facilities and two more on the horizon, the country is building the kind of capacity that modern digital economies demand. What makes this growth particularly significant is the pace at which existing facilities are filling up. Average occupancy rates already surpass 81% and are projected to climb to around 92% before the decade ends.

Buenos Aires Leads the Way

The capital city is the undisputed hub of Argentina's colocation activity. Seventeen existing data centers and two upcoming facilities call Buenos Aires home, backed by robust fiber connectivity, a high density of enterprise clients, and a reliable pool of skilled IT professionals. These advantages create a self-reinforcing cycle: infrastructure attracts business, which in turn justifies further infrastructure investment.

Who ...
... Shapes the Market?

The competitive landscape includes some well-recognized names. Cirion Technologies holds the strongest position, commanding over 17% of the country's IT power capacity in 2024. Its leadership reflects consistent investment in energy-efficient systems and high-density deployments. Other notable operators include Claro, IPLAN, NextStream, and EdgeConneX, each contributing to a market that is both diversifying and deepening.

What Is Fueling Demand?

Three forces are converging to drive colocation uptake: cloud adoption, artificial intelligence workloads, and edge computing. Enterprises across industries are shifting workloads to cloud platforms, which in turn require reliable, high-performance colocation environments. AI and machine learning applications are particularly demanding, requiring GPU clusters, high-density racks, and scalable bandwidth that traditional on-premise setups cannot easily provide.

Real-time analytics and edge computing further reinforce the case for colocation, as latency-sensitive applications need proximity to end users. Buenos Aires, with its concentration of population and connectivity, is ideally positioned to serve these needs.

Looking Ahead

The Argentina colocation market is not growing by accident. It reflects deliberate investment by operators, rising digital maturity among enterprises, and a broader regional shift toward outsourced infrastructure. For businesses evaluating their infrastructure strategy in Latin America, Argentina belongs firmly on the shortlist.
