The most recent instance I was at the Las Vegas Hilton, I saw the type of vacuum cleaner they used. It was revealing. There are two vacuum cleaners used in hotels in Las Vegas, the Eureka Sanitaire and the Oreck commercial vacuum cleaner. This is a review of the Oreck vacuum cleaner.

Virtually all Oreck upright vacuum cleaners use the same style of motor. It's a lightweight 4 amp high speed motor, ad is made specifically for cleaning indoor/outdoor carpet. The same kind of low pile carpet found in almost all Las Vegas hotels. This motor is high speed, giving the roller brush the best chance to pick up surface dirt. Hotels leaning staff are pressed to do a great job in a limited amount of time, so the Oreck needs to pick up all visible surface dirt in one pass. Really the negative about Oreck is that the motor is very small. Although the airflow is perfect for the short pile carpets in hotels, there is very little real suction to clean thicker deeper pile carpets in homes. For many people the light weight benefits outweigh the cleaning limitations. The Oreck continues to be a popular choice for commercial use and consumers.

As a person staying in the Hilton hotel, I was glad to see that they were using one of the best vacuum cleaners for the hotel industry. And a vacuum cleaner made specifically for hotel use. In fact, originally that is what the Oreck brand vacuum was made for, commercial use in the hotel industry. It was only years later that they started selling to homeowners.

One thing I would recommend if you are thinking about the Oreck. Buy from an authorized factory dealer. Do not buy from a store that is not a dealer. They cannot honor warranties or provide service for free after the sale.
