Locating And Purchasing Original Art
Art galleries and museums all over the world attract tourists who want to view original art first hand. Many people with an interest in original art will flock to museums and galleries to experience the emotions that these original works can evoke. If you are one of the people who travel to view these splendid displays you may want to buy art for your home or office. You must be willing to invest a substantial amount of time in to making your purchase. You can begin your search to buy art with magazines and online sites to learn what type of art you want. Once you know whether you are interested in sculpture or painting you will need to educate yourself on which of the art periods interest you the most. There are many periods to choose from such as Realism, Impressionism, or maybe Abstract art catches your eye. Within each are different mediums used for the craft like oil or watercolor paintings or various textiles used for sculpting such as plastic, wood, clay or ceramic.
Before you buy art you will also need to consider where you want to make your purchase. Among the options are online galleries which can save you precious ...
... hours spent traveling around, they offer many options including liberal return policies and Certificates of Authenticity or COA's for their original art selections. Another option may be to purchase the artwork from a brick and mortar gallery. Obviously it can be exciting to shop a true gallery but it can also be very time consuming. Either way you choose to make your purchase be sure to investigate the seller thoroughly. Be sure to learn about their return policies they offer as well as very clear contact information and make sure you are fully protected. If you are looking at a piece of original art that will need to be shipped you will need to get a confirmation number, a tracking number and an insurance policy to cover your investment. It is very unfortunate but all kinds of scams are prevalent in the art industry.
Never purchase an original art piece that doesn't include a Certificate of Authenticity. Otherwise known as a COA, this certificate insures that the work is truly an original, authentic piece of art. The COA allows you piece of mind as it provides positive proof that the original art you are purchasing is coming from a legitimate dealer or artist. The COA is not required for purchase but it is very highly recommended that you obtain one for your purchase.
It is also very important that you take the size of your original art into consideration as you shop. Shopping online or in a gallery can be confusing as to the piece's size. The item may appear smaller or larger than it actually is, because the gallery is usually very large and not proportionate to your home or pictures online may give the appearance of a piece of art fitting perfectly into your home. Always pay close attention to the measurements of the piece you are interested in and assure that it will fit in to the space you have reserved before you buy art. As you can see, it is sometimes a difficult task to buy art, it is imperative that you take your time and recognize your options before you buy.
