How To Find A Recommended Tradesperson On The Internet
It is amazing, is it not, how the internet has changed our lives? I still have a copy of the Shorter Oxford Dictionary that my mother gave me when I went on to university - at three inches thick it is full of useful information, yet I ignore it when I need to know the meaning of a word, and log onto Google instead. The same applies to the hard copy telephone and yellow page directories that used to rule our lives. Postman Pat still delivers them, although few people that I know even bother to open the parcels.
Amazon.com has become our local bookstore, and sites like thetimes.co.uk have replaced the morning papers. People use the internet to check the time of local church services instead of strolling across the village green, and even look for friendship and dates on the web.
It is hardly surprising that websites exists solely for the purposes of providing lists of dentists, doctors and lawyers in London and in the Counties. You can even shop around for a recommended tradesperson when you have a job of work that needs done. Some sites that provide this service are better ...
... than others are - to my mind mr-skill.co.uk is the best of all. Here is how it works after you log on:
o Click on the tab POST A JOB at the top of the page. Fill in the easy-going form to describe what needs done - the rule here is that the more information that you provide, the better will be the quality of the quotations that you receive. It costs absolutely nothing to find a rated builder or good tradesman on the website, and you are under no obligation to accept any offer either. These are the things that you should include in your description:
A name for your job (in case you advertise more than one
The start and finish dates that would be first prize for you
Your budget and the postal code where the work will be done
Some idea of he scale of the job
Anything else that you consider to be important
You may find it simpler to prepare your description using a word-processing package such as ms word, and then paste the result into the box on the post a job page.
o Mr-Skill will circulate your requirements among rated tradespersons working in your area. They will be aware when quoting that they are competing, and you could save as much as 30% as a result. Some good tradespeople may ask for further information, and the website will email this on to you when this happens. Once all quotes are in you have seven days to accept an offer or reject all of them. There is no charge for this ,and the service comes without any obligation.
What could be easier that that? You do not have to give away your personal details like email, phone and home address to anybody else unless you accept a quotation. What is more, the written quotes are safely stored on the Mr-Skill server and there can be no argument about what was said or promised.
