Dorsalgia or back pain is an ailment that everyone is familiar with. Every individual at some point of time or other has suffered back pain. Broadly backache is considered to be any kind of tension, discomfort or pain originating from the spine or its adjoining areas. The pain mostly originates from the muscles, bones, nerves, joints or from other parts of the spinal column. Mostly confined within the thorax and lumber region, it often stretches down to the limbs and pelvis. The pain can be chronic or sudden. Back pain can be classified into different categories depending upon the locations they arise from.

Upper back pain, low backache, tail bone and neck pain are the categories. As the names imply they appear on the sites they are named after. These pains travel from one place to another once elevated. However besides these, back pains can be of several other types depending on the nature of the pain. Chronic pain is that which continues over three months with acute pain and tingling sensation that makes activities almost impossible in a way. This can be caused due to Arthritis, degenerative disc, nerve issues or other conditions pertaining to the spine. It gives excruciating pain until fully treated. Acute pain is a case of extreme pain that ranges between a sharp constant paining to a dull aching. This can be caused due to damaged tissues, muscles or some other kind of injuries. Physical therapies do good to this kind of pain. They usually lessen or completely disappear within three weeks. But if the pain occurs more often, then a chronic pain is very likely to develop. They can occur due to either lack of exercise or due to emotional disturbances.

Mechanical pain is a very common form of pain that gets increased after physical activities, coughing, sneezing etc. The pain is acute and can spread elsewhere and caused commonly due to sciatica, disc disease, fractures etc. Neuropathic pain occurs due to no apparent reasons. Brain keeps sending pain signals due to damaged motor nerves. Chronic pain treatments work well in this.
