There are mainly two important materials to complete this task of planting blackberries. Firstly, get yourself a nice big gardening shovel which will help you in digging up the soil. Secondly, buy some blackberry plants from a nearby store that sells gardening supplies. It is essential that you should choose plants ...
... in healthy and proper condition before purchasing them. Once you have collected these two main items, you can move ahead to the task of planting the blackberries.
Blackberry Plantation Steps
Step 1: Blackberry plants are available in different varieties. You should decide which variety you want to plant. The types from which you may choose are erect and trailing varieties. Plants should be purchased from reliable gardening stores or reputable nurseries to make sure that they are free from any kinds of diseases.
Step 2: Once you have chosen the type of plant you want, you need to decide where to place them. Blackberries require a large amount of sunlight for a proper growth and hence they should be placed in a spot which receives the right amount of sunlight. You also need to make sure that the soil contains the right amount of moisture and a proper drainage system.
Step 3: The right amount of watering of the blackberry plant is very essential. The plants should not be allowed to drown by excessive watering. Instead, you should check the soil regularly for consistency in the drainage system. The plantation space where the blackberries are to be planted should be freed from all weeds before the plantation. This is a necessary point to keep in mind when you prepare spots for your blackberry plants. According to research and studies, blackberries grow well mostly in the spring or pre spring season.
Step 4: Once the soil has been prepared, holes should be dug up, that are big enough to be filled by the roots of the blackberry plant. The roots then need to be covered completely and need to be secured with large amounts of soil. Erect varieties of blackberry plants require at least 4 to 6 feet of space between each plant. The growth and development of these plants is greatly affected if they are not planted in between these measurements. Trailing varieties, on the other hand require a space of about 4 to 10 feet between each plant. A distance of 8 to 10 feet needs to be left between each row of the blackberry plant. Once they have been planted, water them right at that instant.
