Offshore Software Development Process Of Cmmi Level 3 Certified Companies

CMMi Maturity Level 3 certification is very prestigious for any software development company involved in offshore software development. CMMi certification in general stands for Capability Maturity Model and has 5 levels which describe the maturity level of a company with software development as below:
Level 1 - Initial
Level 2 - Managed
Level 3 - Defined
Level 4 - Quantitatively Managed
Level 5 - Optimizing
At CMMi Maturity Level 3 the offshore software development company has more rigorous software development process which is described in terms of procedures, methods, standards and tools. It is at this level that the company has the ability to tailor the procedures, standards and process description so as to suit the requirements of some other projects. Better understanding of interrelationships of the various processes and in detail magnitude of the process, services and work products can be expected from a CMMi Maturity Level 3 offshore software ...
... development company.
The complete process of software development at different CMMi Maturity Levels is spread across four steps as below:
1. Process Management
2. Project Management
3. Engineering
4. Support
Each of these steps again involves various processes. These sub processes for an offshore software development company at CMMi Maturity Level 3 are as below:
Decision Analysis and Resolution (DAR): In this stage alternatives for offshore software development project are assessed and guidelines for future decision analysis are set. Criteria to evaluate the end product are also set.
Integrated Project Management +IPPD (IPM): Here it is assessed how the offshore software development company's atmosphere, assets and resources can be customized so as to suit the requirements of the project on hand.
Organizational Process Definition +IPPD (OPD): A software development company maintains a library of resources which can be used by the employees as reference to accomplish other similar projects. These resources can include descriptions of lifecycle models, documents related to processes, descriptions of processes and process elements, custom application development guidelines and data.
Organizational Process Focus (OPF): Analyze the current strengths and weaknesses and accordingly formulate a plan for improvements in the processes and assets of the offshore software development company.
Organizational Training (OT): Aims at continuously developing the skills and knowledge of the software developers so that they can perform better and better each time.
Product Integration (PI): Relates to assembling the product components to form the final product as well as to ensure that it functions as expected.
Requirements Development (RD): To consider requirements of the product-component, product and the customers. Integrate valid product and customer needs in the software.
Risk Management (RSKM): Take into consideration problems that are likely to occur during the life span of the product. Based on this plan risk handling activities and implement them on as needed basis through the different stages of the product.
Technical Solution (TS): Asses problems related to the product components, product, and product life cycle. Design, develop and deploy solutions for the same.
Validation (VAL): This stage of the offshore software development process ensures that the product so developed lives up to the expectations of all associated with the product.
Verification (VER): Here it is verified that the different work products used meet their purpose.
