The Anaheim Ducks are a team from the National Hockey League. The National Hockey league is the premier league in the world and attracts the greatest talent around the world to come and play. The Ducks began with a lot of expectations and excitement after their name had been spread even before conception.

The team was named after the hit Disney movie featuring the team called The Mighty Ducks. Disney founded the team and named them the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The team name did not last in its former state after Disney sold the team to another group. The team was quickly renamed to the current name of Anaheim Ducks.

The team has had a relatively large amount of success in their history. Often in professional sports it takes a long time for a team to develop into a contender. The team has only been in existence for about 15 years, but the team has still managed to make their way to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in almost half of the years that they have existed.

Although they started winning enough to make the playoffs in the 1990's, their success really didn't come in the grand scale until the 21st century began. ...
... In the year 2003 the team turned from a team that makes the playoffs into a team that goes deep into the playoffs. The team managed to win in the playoffs behind the leadership of Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Giguere was amazing throughout the playoffs. He posted shutout after shutout. In one series he surrendered just one goal the entire series, leading the team to a sweep.

Behind Giguere the team advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. The team stretched the series to its limit, going 7 games. Despite their efforts and the play of Giguere, the team fell in the end. Despite losing the series, Giguere was named MVP of the playoffs. He was only the 5th player to ever win the award as a member of a losing team in the playoffs.
In 2005 the team was sold away from Disney and began to find even more success. The greatest bit of success came in 2006-2007. The team had several landmark accomplishments that year.

The first important accomplishment was the first Division Championship that the team had ever seen. The team had compiled a defensive line that was as good as almost any that has been seen in the history of the sport. After winning the Division Championship, the team just kept winning in the playoffs.

The team once again managed to advance deep into the playoffs. Like 2003, the team managed to go all the way to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007. This Final looked like it would bring more success than the last for the team. They started out the series with 2 victories at home. They did lose the 3rd game of the series, but the team managed to take home the next two. The final game was a 6-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators. This was the first and only championship in the history of the franchise.
