Deer Hunting Clubs In The South – Some Ideas

Hunters and wing-shooters often start planning way ahead of time their next outing with their mates or family at their favorite hunting destination. But, for many, they first have to do some homework and preparation.
Not every hunter, or group of hunters, always have access to a great lease. It may be that they hunt in different counties or states every year, or they may be new to the region. There are many reasons for this. But, preparation is important if you want to make that trip at all. Looking for a good hunting lease, as member of a group, or on your own, forms part of the planning.
You and your group may decide to look around for the lease that suits your needs, or you may join a hunting club, for example. In the Southeast, in states such as Virginia, for example, there are opportunities to join hunt clubs, which is what so many hunters prefer doing as it makes things that much easier, right from finding a good lease to leaving with good prey.
Not everybody wants to join a club as they may operate better independently and on their own, or they may be loners, or they prefer not to share. ...
... This is fine, but for thousands of hunters in the South and elsewhere joining a hunt club is the ideal. So, what is the best way to find a hunt club in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama and other southeastern states you can join?
You may want to look at the local press, you may want to approach local landowners and ask them what information they have for you, or you consult the internet where leading consultancies offer this service. Well-established consultants such as the well-known Westervelt Wildlife company will certainly be able to help since they manage several of these hunt clubs in Virginia and elsewhere. They are but one example, there are others that can also assist. These services know what leases are available, what animal herds roam which counties, and above all, they know which hunt clubs may be looking for members to join them. A look at some pros and cons gives an idea of how joining a hunt club can be of benefit to the hunter.
What, for example, are some of the pros and cons of joining a hunt club? Firstly, members of clubs will immediately point out that they have formed new – often lasting – friendships with other members; such camaraderie is invaluable on hunting trips as it brings likeminded people together and makes everybody’s experience that much more pleasurable as opposed to having to go it on your own.
Secondly, it becomes much cheaper to lease premium land if the costs are divided among a number of hunters, and not for the account of the individual only.
Thirdly, when members work together for everybody else’s good, they help one another with, say, dragging and loading harvested deer and other game, they will all help to hang stands, they will all do their part to cut lanes, and they will help to plant food plots.
All of these tasks are important in terms of which the ideal environment is created for a good hunting trip to be guaranteed. Of course there are certain issues you may want to consider, such as the number of hunters in the group. Are you happy with a smaller or larger membership? This is a preference. Not everybody is a team player, and because hunt clubs have – sometimes strict - rules, these individuals may not want to join a club as they may feel their freedoms are being curtailed and their independence is not valued.
In the end all hunters have their preferences. What is great to know is that if you want to be part of a group and you do join a club, you may well find a good spot if you talk to a leading wildlife consultant in the South. These people know the region through and through, they are in contact with landowners, and they often administer successful hunt clubs.
