Are you the one who loves to enjoy gazing at gallery walls? If your answer is yes then you have to visit these best Australian art galleries for the first time. These galleries have unique collections of artwork assembled for the benefit of the public, ranging from renowned European classics to modern Australian portraits, Aboriginal art, and everything in between.
Art Gallery of Western Australia
The Art Gallery of Western Australia opened its doors in 1979 and is a part of the Perth Cultural Centre. The collection focuses especially on indigenous art from Western Australia and has more than 17,000 works of art, including 3,000 Indigenous works. Australian Centre for Contemporary Art
What started off as an artist's home in 1984 has developed into a renowned centre for modern art. Since then, ACCA has organized hundreds of shows by local and foreign contemporary artists, and it now prioritizes commissioning fresh work to promote progressive discourse. The facility itself ...

Aboriginal Rock Art
The middle of the 20th century saw the rise to fame of some Australian painters who were very well-liked in Europe. S. Nolan, A. Boyd, R. Drysdale, B. Whiteley, W. Dobell, N. Lindsay, A. Namatjira, and L. Rees are just a few of the notable Australian artists from the 20th century that come to mind. Each of them has contributed to what makes Australian visual arts unique.
National Portrait Gallery
Despite the fact that artist Tom Roberts proposed a national portrait gallery in the early 1900s, Canberra didn't host the collection until 1998. The gallery's collection of nearly 400 portraits of Australia's most famous figures, including Howard Arkley's Nick Cave, John Webber's Captain James Cook, and Barry Humphrey's Self Portrait, paint a distinctly Australian past.
National Gallery of Victoria
You'll get a feeling of the size and significance of NGV when you proceed through the archway and behind the water wall to the Great Hall. The National Gallery of Victoria, which houses more than 73,000 works of art between the main gallery and The Ian Potter Center, is the oldest and most popular art gallery in Australia. Shearing the Rams by Tom Roberts is one of the most iconic pieces of art. The NGV further presents transient displays such as Melbourne Winter Masterpieces.
