Getting To Know The Different Roof Types
A house cannot really be considered complete if a part of it is missing, most especially if that part happens to be the roof. However, putting on just any kind of roof would not do the trick. You have to take into consideration a number of factors before you can clearly decide what material to use for your roof.
One of the factors that you have to consider when determining what kind of roof to have is the weather. If you happen to live within an area where the weather is predominantly hot or where there are harsh storm elements every now and then, then you might want to consider having clay or slate tiles. This type of roofing material holds better in the said weather condition. Aside from this, they can also be depended upon in keeping heat away from your home. An additional advantage of clay tiles is that they tend to last for up to 50 years.
If you would like something that would give your home a more traditional look or would like something that would give your house a hint of the past, you might want to try getting wood shingles. This type of roof is also suited for homes where there are four seasons and where ...
... the weather does not go into extreme mode.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a roofing material that has a life expectancy of more than a decade, you might want to try installing asphalt shingle as well as the dimensional shingle. This type of roofing materials has an average life cycle of 30 years. What sets the latter different from the former is that it is thicker in size while the former comes in a number of different colors.
Another type of roofing that could last a long time is the metal roofing. With a life cycle of about 50 years, metal roofing is actually suited for any architectural design. It is light weight, comes in many colors, and considerably needs very little maintenance. Just like clay shingles, metal roofing can withstand the harshest of weather conditions. Downside, however, is that it can be a bit pricey and is harder to install.
If your main concern is your budget, you might want to consider bitumen as your roofing. They are relatively inexpensive but are not generally suited for areas which receive a great amount of rain or snow. They are more suited for houses with low-pitched.
