IPL 2022 - Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by 5 Wickets

Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets in the 4th match of IPL 2022. By opting to bat first, in the match played on Monday 28th March 2022, Lucknow Super Giants scored 158 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.

In reply, Gujarat Titans (GT) achieved the target in 19.4 overs. This match turned out to be very exciting as both the teams were new this time and we were playing the 1st match only.

With 71 runs required from the final 6 overs, it was just a matter of one over that picked up the pace for Gujarat Titans (GT) after the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinners pulled the noose. The game went in Gujarat’s favor in the 16th over when Tewatia and Miller hit two fours and two sixes off Deepak Hooda.

“The wicket was so good that Miller and I were discussing whether we would take it deeper and it was just a matter of one over,” said Tewatia, who remained unbeaten on 40 off 24 balls. “When I hit that six with the reverse sweep, Bishnoi was in a tizzy,” he said.

However, Gujarat needed 20 ...
... runs in the last two balls when Miller was dismissed. Also playing his first IPL, young Abhinav Manohar hit three fours in this pressure situation and took the game away from Lucknow. “Abhinav (Manohar) is a clean striker with the ball, so I had full faith in him that he would come and play his shots straight away.

It’s a big deal to do it in your first game. I gave him the strike because I know he is a proper batsman and can hit big shots.” Meanwhile, Lucknow skipper KL Rahul also credited Teotia and Manohar for their innings under pressure.
