The saree has long been part of Indian culture. It is traditionally worn; around the waist with one end draped over the shoulder. It was worn without a petticoat and blouse before the rule of the British Raj. Fashion trends have certainly evolved since then. Modern saree blouses are now a combination of Indian tradition and European design worn on many occasions. There are also more choices than ever regarding readymade blouses for sarees.

· Floral patterns

Floral patterns have been a mainstay in the fashion industry, and it’s not hard to see why. Intricate floral thread work adds a sophisticated touch to the garment, perfect for a feminine and chic look.

· Mirror work

Shisheh embroidery is a technique widespread in various parts of Asia. This type of embroidery attaches small pieces of mirrors or reflective metal to the fabric, giving it a unique, eye-catching shine. Going to a dressy event? You can’t go wrong with an exquisite blouse ...
... laden with heavy mirror work and golden details.

· Brocade blouses

Silk brocade blouses add a contemporary twist to the traditional look. Raised brocade patterns give the fabric texture, almost tempting to touch and feel.

Choose a blouse with a beautiful combination of brocade and floral patterns, featuring intricate gold, blue, pink, and orange silk flowers. Such a readymade blouse is a must-have for night parties and wedding receptions.

· High-neck blouses

Blouses with high collars are elegant and aristocratic, making you feel as if you were royalty. These fashion items are perfect for women with broad shoulders, pairing perfectly with lightweight sarees and lehengas. You can find readymade silk blouses in deep blues, with high necks that fit tightly over your body.

· Zari work

Zari is a weaving technique involving threads of silver and gold. These designs are made by hand, allowing the weaver to create complex and precise patterns. In addition, Zari work is often combined with stonework embroidery, resulting in rich, elegant embellishments and intricate designs.

Treat yourself to a silk handwork blouse that merges stonework and Zari work, adding geometric details around the neck and all over the torso.

Are you looking for highly sophisticated additions to your closet? Elevate your everyday look with readymade saree blouses from top clothing stores worldwide!

About the Author:

Shreya Patel ventured into professional fashion design and established the hugely successful design house, RAAS, in her 50s. She dived into the fashion industry in 2016 when she started a one-of-a-kind online boutique experience by curating artisan-quality outfits from India and selling them in the US. But eventually, Shreya realized that this was not fulfilling her mission of growing together, supporting the artisans, and empowering women. Hence, she decided to pursue further education at Parsons School of Design. It was amidst the pandemic that she started her own design house with the intention to support the artisans who had lost their jobs, and that marked the beginning of the socially sustainable label RAAS, The Global Naari. Given the tremendous fame and love her designs received in the United States and internationally even during the pandemic, her daughter decided to join her mission. The duo recently introduced Tanisi, a Western casual label focusing on making sustainable, high-quality designer fashion accessible and affordable.
