Buying Running Shoes? Here Are The Tips
There are numerous ways of staying fit like doing push-ups, crunches, yoga, pilates or even running. Out of these, running is one of the most common forms of exercise for staying fit and healthy. If you’re someone who wants to begin running then the first thing you would need to do is choose the right pair of running shoes. Adverts sometimes fool you into buying the most expensive sports shoes. But that in most cases is false. You should buy running shoes that fit well after careful examination. Wearing an incorrect pair can cause injuries leaving you feeling dreadful.

If you’re unsure about which sport shoe to buy then determining your running profile will help you find an answer. Ask yourself if you’re an intensive runner or rider? Are you training to prepare for a race or just simply recreational? You should preferably choose footwear that is comfortable with proper cushioning. Running pace is also a good determinant of the sports shoe that you will need.
2. Intensity of running
If ...
... you’re an intensive runner then make sure you pick a shoe with proper cushioning that will reduce shock waves and ensure maximum comfort. A running shoe that ranks high in stability will be necessary to support your feet throughout the run. Lightweight shoes are always a good investment for providing a better boost. If you’re someone who constantly chases your ultra best time then pick an ultra-light, fast shoe.
3. Know your style
Before buying a pair you should do a proper study of yourself. Consider your body weight, frequency of running etc. The reason why your body weight matters is because you exert three times the amount of weight on your feet, joints and muscles. Shoes that lack cushioning would transmit directly to the heel and joints causing potential injuries. Apart from that knowing your stride is equally as important as it plays a major role in comfort.
4. Stride types
Our strides are categorised into three types i.e. Neutral, Over-pronation and Under-pronation. Each stride requires a specific shoe depending on the running style.
NEUTRAL
In this type of stride, the heel first strikes the ground followed by the forefoot and toes. Since the weight is evenly distributed during this, it is known as a neutral stride. Neutral shoes have good cushioning and medial support. You can buy running shoes online.
OVER-PRONATION
Runners who fall under this category require shoes that require stability and motion control. In this type of movement, the inner heel strikes the ground first followed by the big toe. The foot rolls inwards while running due to which stabilising becomes an issue.
UNDER-PRONATION
This is the opposite of over-pronation. In this stride, the outer heel strikes the ground first followed by the little toe. The foot in this movement rolls outwards which makes it important for such types of runners to pay important cushioning and flexibility in their sports shoes.
5. RUNNING SURFACE
There are three different surfaces i.e. Road running, trail running and treadmill running.
Road running - You need to buy a shoe that has good stability, flexibility and cushioning. This type of surface is plain with a few irregularities.
Trail running - These shoes are designed for rough surfaces with lots of ups and down, for example - hills and natural terrains. Shoes need good traction for better grip to survive on this surface.
Treadmill - These shoes need to be light, flexible and breathable. You can buy running shoes online now at SportsEquip.in
