Why do women require separate tournaments? Shouldn't they fight on an equal footing with men?
They should. And the ESL tournaments will do just that. Obviously, right now women can't compete with men at a high level. Several times women's squads were allocated a separate slot for general tournaments - and they always failed there.

But poor results do not mean that women's CS should not be developed. On the contrary, we need to create an environment (which ESL does, among other things) in which women will feel comfortable realizing their potential.

There were two top women's tournaments in 2020: DreamHack Showdown Summer and Winter. The first one was a DreamHack slot with the men's teams. So how can we improve our game with so few quality tournaments? Many female cyber athletes switched to Valorant because Riot introduced a full tournament system for the female scene.

"There are very few professional players in cybersports right now among women. To inspire more girls to start a career in this field, we need to make competitions more accessible and provide equal conditions for female participants for ...
... years to come," comments Vera Winken, brand manager of Riot in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Why are clubs now actively developing youth squads? WePlay created a tournament for academies. In the first season, 8 teams participated, in the third season there were already 10. And then, most likely, there will be even more. Would there be such a dynamic development of the academy teams if WePlay hadn't made the tournament?

Women, in principle, play fewer games. Why develop cybersports for them?

To play more. And to change attitudes towards them.

Online gaming is basically a toxic place, where you can hear insults about yourself or your loved ones at the slightest opportunity. Not everyone can stand it, and if you are a girl or woman, you are likely to have an even harder time. After all, just because of this many will send you straight to the kitchen and advise you never to go to the same CS again.

Surely someone will say the argument "let them play well - and there won't be any questions to them. But is a low level of the game - a reason to be toxic and stoop to sexist statements?

Surely someone will make the argument "let them play well and there won't be any questions about them. But is a low level of play a reason to be toxic and stoop to sexist remarks?

The principle that "if you can't handle the abuse, you don't belong in cybersports" also sounds strange. Hitting a vulnerable victim from a safe position is easy, but what's the point? And it's not even so much about gender: both men and women can suffer from generalized hating. We can go back to the development of women's tournaments. More tournaments and more prizes - more interest and, therefore, more competition. And competition tends to increase the overall level - in this case, the level of play of women and girls. And if they start playing better, maybe the attitude towards them will also change for the better.

And here's what HellRaisers coach Anatoly "Little" Yashin said about women's eSports:

"Girls have a completely different logic, everyone knows it, it's already proven... It's already proven. But the way of thinking in Counter-strike is sometimes different. And the correlation of female logic and thinking in CS is impossible.

Boys and girls are raised differently. Even schools still have labor lessons with a clear division: boys make stools and girls cook.

However, scientists cannot say exactly what factors influence the difference in the upbringing of children of different sexes: social, biological, or both in combination. It is the same with the difference in brain function and structure.

There are indeed differences, but it is not clear to what extent they affect the thinking processes and intellectual development of men and women.

Women's tournaments with a decent prize pool are needed.
They will definitely serve as a platform for the development of novice female cyber players and will not kill the interest of players with experience.

What do you think? Is eSports an exclusively male activity?
