Apocalypse is inevitable. Is it really inevitable? Making such a statement may not cause any worry as the Covid 19 has already taken over Earth. Even if there is a successful vaccine, do we really have a vaccine for a damaged ecosystem?

You make up an ecosystem

An ecosystem, in a simple sense, means a collection of all organisms interconnected with each other. The word interconnection demands attention. Even an aquarium is an ecosystem for the fishes. You, too, are a part of an ecosystem, aren’t you?

Dinosaurs have gone extinct. Animals which you have known and witnessed with your own eyes are now in museums. Man is a superior animal dominating all life forms on Earth. A question to ponder upon is,

Is man really superior?

Dependency makes a person weak. The same is the case with man. How can a man live independently? Nature is mother to all of us. There is irreparable damage we have caused to our own mother. Can the wounds be healed?

How is Ecological restoration still possible?

The term Ecological restoration is a burning issue ...
... of the world right now. The Countries are now charting ways to restore nature, i.e., restore humanity! Undoubtedly planting trees is the best option. But, think about the 100-year-old trees that have been felled down just to satisfy mankind and taste conquest.

The rising sea levels have become another big concern. Climatic change has become a monster to us. Through Coastal Stabilization, we are trying to defend against soil erosion and flooding. The seas have started claiming lands as if God Poseidon is getting angrier! Through sea walls and dunes, we are making coastal stabilization a possibility.

Ecological restoration is not actual restoration but the acceleration of recovery

Do not confuse it with actual recovery. Ecological restoration is a process through which ecological damage can be undone. It is a system of accelerating recovery by making recoveries viable and favourable. This can be done by reducing pollution and by reducing the rate of expansion.

Threats and dangers to ecosystem

Mining requires clearance and destruction of the whole ecosystem. This causes environmental imbalances. The habitat gets disturbed. Deforestation happens because we become selfish for more gold and space. Urbanization due to overpopulation has become uncontrollable. Governments are offering permits to clear forests to fill up their own purses. We have become profit-oriented.

However, organizations and people are working their best to conserve the environment through conservation permitting. Wildlife conservation organizations are increasing. Coastal stabilization activities are in process. NGO’s are being launched to save the world from a severe crisis.

Environmentalists are concerned and are taking steps to convert us into eco-friendly beings. Some Governments realize the need to grant conservation permitting.

Ecological restoration is not a substitute

Do not consider it as a substitute for Ecosystem preservation. Nothing can justify the destruction of the environment. It is not a promise to restore the ecosystem. Prevention is always better than cure.
