Dodge introduced Stratus in the mid 1990s as a replacement for the Spirit which was beginning to lose its appeal to time. The Stratus, along with the Plymouth Breeze and Chrysler Cirrus, was based on Chrysler's JA platform. Out of the three sedans, the Stratus was deemed to be the most masculine looking, sporty car. The car easily fit into Dodge's arsenal as a midsize sedan. It came to be known for its sharp and racy styling, spacious and comfortable interiors and offered the buyers great value in return for their money. The second generation Stratus came with more security features and a stronger engine. A coupe version of the car was also introduced to the market.
