Tips For Good Oral Hygiene And Healthy Smiles

Tips for good oral hygiene :
1. Brushing :The most important thing in order to achieve good oral hygiene is to keep your teeth and gums very clean. You should brush your teeth regularly twice, after meal. You must use the proper brushing technique for the same. While brushing you should keep in mind to brush in an up and down motion. You should be gentle while brushing, otherwise you might end up hurting your gums. Your brushing time should be around 2 mins.

3. Rinse your mouth after every meal: you should make it a habit to rinse your mouth everytime you eat something. It has been seen that “in between meals” are one of the major reasons behind carious teeth.
When we eat, the food particles tend to stick onto the tooth surface. If left unclean, they harbour bacteria which in turn causes cavities. So, it is essential to rinse your mouth after every meal if you want healthy teeth.
4. Regular flossing : you should make flossing a habit on a regular basic. The interdental regions of our teeth can not be reached by the toothbrush. In order to clean them, something tinner is required. There comes in the role of dental floss and interdental brushes.
You can take a dental floss, wind it up against the middle finger of your each hand and hold it by your thumb and index fingers and then place it in between two teeth. After that you need to move it up and down, make a c shape against the gingiva and then take it out. This process should be followed for every teeth. While flossing, you have to be careful not to hurt your gums.
Dental flossing will remove the plaque from the inter dental regions which otherwise would have been the sites for growing bacteria.
5. Use of mouthwash: A mouthwash not just freshens up your breath, but also has anti bacterial properties. Use of a fluoride containing mouthwash on a regular basic after brushing can keep your teeth healthy.
6. Regular dental visit and follow up: It is of utmost importance to pay a visit to your dental surgeon for a regular check-up once in every 6 months to 1 year. Just like your body, your teeth too require a regular check up. A regular check up will actually help to keep your oral health intact all the time.
7. Quit smoking: Tobacco is very injurious for your teeth. If you want to have a good oral health, you should give up your smoking habits.
