The COVID-19(novel coronavirus) virus made 2020 a disaster year for everyone. It spread rapidly around the world and infected millions of people, and approximately 2 million people died. The race to develop and deploy a safe and effective COVID vaccine has begun in various countries. The vaccine is a type of medicinal drug that helps a person become immune to an infectious disease. In simple words, it trains your body's immune system to fight disease. When you catch a disease, vaccines prevent it instead of treating the disease. Vaccines are approved after undergoing three stages that prove the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine. In India, we have two vaccines selected by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) - Covaxin and Covishield.

The COVID vaccine was launched on 16th January 2021. The first group consists of healthcare and frontline workers. The second group to receive the COVID 19 vaccine will be individuals over 50 years of age and those under 50 with comorbid conditions. (states by govt.)

Demerits Of COVID Vaccine:
Almost all vaccines come with some types of side effects. As reported so far, there are some COVID vaccine demerits:
• Pain, mild pain, mild swelling at the injection site, which is common after vaccination.
• Other side effects vary from person to person and may include headache, fatigue, muscle pain, mild fever, etc.
• There is a kind of reaction in some rare cases, so the person is advised to consult a doctor.
