The purpose behind Christian counseling is complete healing on the spiritual and emotional levels. This is an important contrast to worldly psychology where the goal is accommodation and management of the disorders. The worldly notion offers no hope for healing. It has to depend on drug and behaviour management.

Any system, organization or Christian counsellor that doesn’t believe in healing is a kind of lacking in Christian Anthropology. They don’t completely understand the power of the human soul and cross along with Christ.

To say that the goal of Christian or marriage counseling is healing might appear quite simple. But it is a reality. It puts the power of the evil into its right context as being inferior to the good in every way possible. Christian Anthropology describes this as death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, where the eventual extinction of evil was in bearing its worst and finding itself powerless in front of pure goodness. Healing is all about restoration to the ideal intention, purpose and meaning for which God has created us. Healing in that sense is about completely becoming the way God has created us to be. And counselling by a therapist is the alleviation procedure by which we can assist men and women to heal completely.

There is much research showing that stress level all over the world is rising. Whether it is about health concerns, financial worries, loss or grief or various other issues, people are over stressed and over worked. One such remedy facilitating such distress is the counselling of mental health.

From a Christian perception, this kind of customized therapy would involve integrating not only references from the Bible, but transcripts of the life of Christ, and how he was able to cope with hard people and hard times. Efficient Christian counseling avoids emphasizing only on the deficiencies and weakness of the client. A proper therapist will be developed upon the strength of the clients and integrate strategies that helped the client to overcome hard times. Some of these strengths are based on spirituality, and the client was able to learn from past experiences of the Christian focussed prayer, along with associated reflection and meditation.
