Ganglion cysts are the most common lumps or lumps in the wrist. They do not develop into malignant tumors and in most cases are harmless. They can occur in different locations, and they can grow wherever there are joints or tendons. And there is no restriction on age, gender and type of work. It is most common on the back of the wrist. Today we are very happy to invite orthopedic specialist Dr. Zhang Minguan to answer some questions about ganglion cysts and how to treat them.
Dr. Zhang Minguan pointed out that the development of ganglion cysts can be diverse. Some patients will notice that lumps grow slowly, but some patients will feel that lumps grow suddenly. The hardness of these lumps varies, some can be very soft, but some are hard as bones. Some patients feel pain, but there are some patients who have no pain at all. The range of motion near the joint may be reduced a bit. Moreover, the size of these lumps can change over time. Some patients will suddenly feel that the lumps have disappeared, but the lumps will grow up again after a while. Of course, there are also some patients whose lumps will not disappear. Many ...
... patients, especially female patients, feel that this lump is not good in appearance and go to see a doctor.
Most ganglion cysts can be diagnosed from clinical diagnosis, and further X-ray examination is not necessary, but if in doubt, the doctor may refer the patient for MRI to determine what the lump is.

Dr. Zhang Minguan pointed out that most of the ganglion cysts do not require any special treatment. If you have pain, you can try to take a little anti-inflammatory and painkiller, or use a little ice compress, or even a little physical therapy. However, if the pain or swelling cannot be improved, the doctor can try to use acupuncture to remove the stains inside, but the chance of recurrence is very high, about 70% to 80%, so the doctor may also recommend the patient to do Surgical treatment to completely remove the ganglion cyst.

Most of the operations are performed under local anesthesia and last about fifteen minutes. Most patients can heal their wounds in two weeks. The entire rehabilitation process takes about four to six weeks.
