It has now assembled a cumulative/accumulated audience of around $53.8 million, and nearly 30% of that number is associated with IMAX, PLF, and Dolby Cinema. If you look at the statistics, “Tenet” has now bettered the record of another Christopher Nolan’s film. It is currently his best film as far as the numbers of cumulative/associated audiences are concerned. The Prestige had attained a cume (cumulative/associative audience) of around $53.1 million (if you consider inflation, then it is $73.8 million), and Tenet has bettered that.

The Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale starrer film debuted at the box office with an opening of $14 million. Despite the low affluence attained by it, it is still regarded as one of Christopher Nolan’s well-crafted films. Its box office financial score is only slightly better than Al Pacino’s Insomnia (which is one of Christopher Nolan’s less talked about films), but in terms of quality, it is right up there with The Dark Knight and Memento.

The Prestige was one of the two films released in the fall of 2006 that explored the world of magic in the pre-modern world.

The ...
... film starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson in leading roles was made on a colossal $200 million budget. It has earned close to $350 million, with a major chunk of it coming from the overseas market ($290 million). There is a dispute going on whether Christopher Nolan’s Tenet can be considered a flop or not. On one side of the coin, we have the pandemic, which we all know has massively affected the global marketplace, but the film still managed a decent amount overseas, so it should be a success. On the flip side, we have America, which hasn’t treated the film with the kind of recognition it was expecting and has only managed 1/3 of the financial capital Warner Bros. was hoping for. But, then again, nearly 15% of the US market is still under lockdown, and that includes major cities like Los Angeles and New York City, so you should cut the film a bit of slack. The critical reviews, however, are divided as well.

One thing is certain, though; we can expect Tenet to be available on DVDs and Blu-ray by Christmas this year.

One other film we need to pay attention to is the romantic drama “After We Collided,” which has earned a meager sum of $100,000 in its week 2 of its run, proving the general feeling of the public that the film is one-season bewilderment at its very best. The second iteration in the “After” franchise is now struggling at the box office with a score of $2.241 million.

One positive aspect the film creators can look at is that it has grossed over $46 million in the overseas market and was at the 1st position in the VOD charts worldwide. So, even if folks in the United States aren’t watching the film, there are people worldwide who are quite interested in watching this romantic melodrama.

2020 has obviously been the worst year for theaters in the entire history of world cinema, and the end of the year cannot come soon enough.
