I often wonder why relationships are so complicated today. Why do people fail at love every time or every chance they get? Why do we have to nurse our friend numerous times after he/she gets their heartbroken? Why do we have to convince them or maybe even ourselves that there is someone else better out there? Have we suddenly become so inept at making things work? Have we forgotten to love? Or have we forgotten what love actually is?
The thing with us millennials and gen-zers today is that we're unprepared for what it takes to be in a relationship. We don't want to make the sacrifices, the compromises, invest in a relationship, and we're not prepared for the unconditional love.
We want to live our lives just for that moment. We want someone to Netflix and chill with, not someone who understands us in our silences. We want to spend time together, not make memories. We're not looking for love, it's the chase and excitement of that moment that we want. And when the thrill fades, we understand that we're not ready for the mundane. Predictability is what scares us!

... in work. We're busy people chasing materialistic goals and seldom have time for love. "I need to focus on my career, love can wait," we say! We want instant gratification in life. We'd spend a couple of hours with a lot of people rather than spending a day with our loved one. We want options; we're social that way! "I like you till I find another," is our motto. We want a perfect partner, we want to explore our options, we get quickly disappointed, and nothing is worth our time- not even love.
We're so connected to each other online but disconnected in our real lives. We Swipe Right, Snapchat, WhatsApp, go Insta live, but we don't feel the need to spend time together with each other.
We are gypsies who wander from one place to another.
Almost everyone today is commitment phobic- the thought of settling down, spending our entire life with one person scares us. Our relationships aren't simple anymore- casual flings, friends with benefits, open relationships, no strings attached, relationships with our adult toys; there is no love in our lives.
We're a mix of a practical generation that does
n't love truly, madly, deeply anymore, and a scared generation that is scared to commit, to get hurt, to get our hearts broken. We're so closed that we lurk from behind the walls we've created for ourselves. And the moment someone tries to knock those walls down, we cannot handle it.
There's nothing we cannot succeed at in this world, and yet here we are, way behind in the game of love- we fail at the most basic of human instincts.
