Muktinath Yatra And Other High Altitude Abodes Of Hindu Gods

Each one of us has a different way of connecting to our almighty. Across the globe, there are several places that have been distinguished by the pilgrims and their faith as places of religious significance. The temple shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu where he is worshipped as Muktinath or the lord of salvation. As per the Hindu faith, the pilgrims must visit the Muktinath Temple at least once in their lifetime since doing so can get them salvation. The temple is sacred to Buddhists and Hindus alike. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desam or premium temples that are regarded sacred by the Vaishnavas.
2. Kedarnath
One of the most famous pilgrimage spots for Hindus across the country is the magnificent Kedarnath which is located at a mesmerizing altitude of 3583 m. What makes this destination further exciting is that it is accessible only on foot.
The Kedarnath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is the abode to one of the Jyotirlingas and is also among the five Kedars that are spread across the country. It is located on the banks of river Mandakini in the Garhwal Himalayan Range and was conceived in the 8th century.
3. Badrinath
Just like Kedarnath, Badrinath has its own share of magnificence and grandeur and is thronged by several thousands of Hindus every year, most of them in search of salvation and spirituality. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is amongst the most popular ones dedicated to the lord. It is located at an altitude of 3133 m, on the banks of river Alaknanda and is covered in the Chota Char Dham yatras. The yatra has a great religious significance among Hindus.
4. Amarnath
The Amarnath Yatra is a complete package in itself. It has a lot of adventure, a bit of miracle and magic and faith of thousands and thousands of pilgrims.
Amarnath is a shrine in a cave and its highlight is a naturally formed Shiva Lingam that is formed out of snow. The trail that leads to the cave is not just a challenge at a physical level but also at a mental level. The fact that it remains closed for 9 months of the year due to climatic conditions is enough to realize the level of complexity involved.
5. Vaishno Devi
Apart from being the most popular pilgrim spot, it would not be wrong to call Vaishno Devi also as one of the most visited Hindu shrines in the country. It is located at an altitude of 1585 meters and is about 42 kms from Jammu.
The pilgrims trek up a distance of 25 kms from the city of Katra to reach a cave where goddess Vaishno is worshipped in the form of 3 natural rock formations. Hindus have a strong belief that all their wishes are granted when they trek up the trail to visit the shrine.
