The ethnic three-piece ensemble, Anarkali consists of a flared up long length Kurti, paired up with either salwar, churidar or sharara at the bottom along with a dupatta to complete.

Traditionally Kurti refers to the piece of garment including waistcoats, jackets and blouses that sit loosely or fitted around the waist falling either above or below the knees.

Churidars are tightly fitted pyjamas worn by both the genders but favourite amongst the women. They become narrow towards the calves so that the contours of the leg are visible. Although visibly tight, the churidars are aimed to provide comfort and ease.

A symbol of modesty in the days of yore, the dupatta is a scarf-like garment worn across shoulders and head.

Primarily worn by south Asians from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the diaspora around the world, the famed Anarkali has also been a choice of many a-listers from Madhuri Dixit to Alia Bhatt. The famed dress also has fans including Kat Middleton and Dame Judi Dench, among others.

The term Anarkali literally translates to the bud of the pomegranate flower. The ...
... name ‘Anarkali’ is derived from a Mughal courtesan who was fabled to be the love interest of the crown prince Salim, son of emperor Akbar. The dress symbolises feminine traits like beauty, purity, vulnerability, and does so with panache. Anarkali suits were traditionally worn by women in Mughal and Persian cultures long before they became popular through the Indian subcontinent prior to independence. Another Indian attire that resembles Anarkali is the Angarakha.

Anarkali Suit Styles
The popular ethnic Anarkali comes in varied styles including the cape, jacket, layered, and gown among others. Fabrics famed to be used in the making of the Anarkali include silk, georgette, cotton, and velvet among others. Famed and favoured as the best choice for festivities, the Anarkali makes the wearer ethereal, elegant and exquisite.

One of the other promising Anarkali styles also includes ‘embroidered’ Anarkali suits. Often heavily embroidered, the Anarkalis are usually fitted around the bodice and is clinched just below the chest giving the attire the flattering flowing silhouette. Esika World has collections of embroidered Anarkali suit at wholesale prices. Make sure you check them out at www.esikaworld.com
